Bought a new Wicked Ridge crossbow back in March 2024. It has been shot 80-100 times, lubed and waxed appropriately. Is it an age thing, number of times fired or just visual condition that determines when its time to have it restrung?

Kept in a basement closet in a case at 68* year round...outside of when it is in use. I feel the strings are in great condition but I don't want to be near one when it explodes either 😂I think if you’re storing it in the area that’s keeping it somewhat cool that it should last at least 1000 shots. I’m thinking my own is a 2002 model still with the original string on it.! but then I have seen them come to pieces with less than 50 shots also
I’ll tell you something funny but not funny. I have seen many and experienced. Hunter lose the thumb with the crossbow or at least the top part of the thumb.Kept in a basement closet in a case at 68* year round...outside of when it is in use. Dang! glad you’re OKMy thumb was almost a casualty with my Excalibur Crossbow. I had it propped up on my deck post and my off hand (right hand) was displaced and I let my thumb rise above the string. You can imagine what happened when I pulled the trigger. Fortunately, they were able to stitch my thumb back together and it is okay now, but it was a scary lesson learned. Be careful.
I mentally remind myself of my finger placement when I'm shooting it. Glad you can still count to 10 instead of 9.5!My thumb was almost a casualty with my Excalibur Crossbow.
