How to find private land to shoot on?

Has the OP considered going to the CMP range in Alabama? It's a little more money than he might want to spend if he stays overnight, but man you cannot beat the amenities offered for the daily rate. I mean it's like Disney World for marksmen and it's about 2 hours from ATL.

Land gets more expensive when you go north. Look west and south.

Oops. I meant East out from town. I've looked at land (some even with older homes, farmsteads) East and a little South of I-20 in the Styx but I admit it was about 10 years ago.

Still happens sometimes in areas outside of Cook County, IL. I met some great people up there, country folks. We'd get together on farms and shoot all day (some fantastic farmland up there compared to most dirt scratching Georgia farms I've seen) then have a potluck supper inside a large metal or wooden barn set up with folding tables. All Yankees ain't bad people.

It's probably a moot point anyway. Our esteemed county commissioners have as part of their new leftist agenda banning shooting on private property.
They were going to try it last year but didn't have the support but after the recent elections I'm sure they'll feel emboldened to just let loose with that and any other crazy liberal schemes they can come up with.....y'all got any openings at "Da Club"?

You get east and south land can be ridiculously cheap. I've seen clear cut for less than 1k an acre. Granted it's that price for a reason. Sometimes it's difficult to run power and no well or water but like everything else you get what you pay for. The problem with south and east is sometimes the land can be pretty flat and the soil is very Sandy so then you need heavy equipment to make a proper backstop. More hills south and west.

If they do that I'm gonna be pissed. One of the main reasons (for me not my wife) I bought my current home is I can shoot on it.

Join a lease?..Targetshoot all you want out of season?

That's what I did for 19 years, up near Commerce. Dug the world's most expensive trench, about a foot deep and ten feet long behind the 100 yard target holder.

Cheaper that a lot of gun clubs, and no rules other than don't interfere with folks hunting. Plus deer hunting in the fall (but no target shooting then!).

If you’re wealthy enough to still go shooting regularly, the you can definitely afford a lease or purchase!!!
