I have a big safe and have a golden rod and a Remington dehumidifier in it. It has beads in it that change colors when they've soaked up all the moisture they can and it has to be recharged. I'm having to recharge the thing every 5 days or so. What else do I need to be doing? I know thats not how quickly these things are supposed to go.

You should probably get it out the water after that boating accident.. I mean who puts a safe full of guns in their boat and expect it to not sink...

Good luck with all the responses you'll receive.. Hope you get your answer..

You didn't read the instructions did you? lol,
(I didn't with the first one either.)

It says to not leave it plugged in for more than 8 hours!

I have found out if you do, you end up with this problem.
My first one was plugged in too long and didn't work correctly after that.
I'm more careful with the new one that's about a year old, same brand and working correctly.
It takes a few weeks before it starts to change.
Like yours the old one would change in just a couple of days.

One of these would be a good idea too - http://www.amazon.com/Dry-Packs-Deh...ifier+Moisture+Indicating+Silica+Gel+Canister

You made me check mine :becky:
