How to keep a safe dry?

I have a big safe and have a golden rod and a Remington dehumidifier in it. It has beads in it that change colors when they've soaked up all the moisture they can and it has to be recharged. I'm having to recharge the thing every 5 days or so. What else do I need to be doing? I know thats not how quickly these things are supposed to go.

Chances are if it's a "gun safe" your issue are way beyond the safe having a dampness issue....

What brand and model safe?

I have the Eva-Dry and I re-charge it every few months even though that is probably excessive. Something is wrong if you have that much moisture.

If your safe is that "damp" then try running a dehumidifier in the room. It's not like a safe "creates" moisture, it's coming from it's surroundings.
I run the Remington version of the ever dry listed above and charge mine once a month or so...and that's in a basement (and it's pretty damp down there) I also use "Damprid" buckets to pull moisture from the room.

another good trick is to take white rice and put it inside of your wifes old pantyhose tied in a knot and throw it in there.change it out every 6 months
