I have read many times that DampRid is very dangerous in a gun safe. If I understand right it is calcium chloride, that is it's a salt. There has been a lot of complaints about corrosion when it is used... Just saying you may want to check into this further.

D rod and silica in a bowl, silica turns pink when it needs baking in oven. Only baked it twice in two years and no problems at all

I just use a major dehumidifier in my basement...

Works great, no rust.
