You can make Liquor, just not heat distilled. Cold distilled on the other hand it completely legal.

We do it with cider. Start with hard cider freeze it. The alcohol dosent freeze, you pour it off. Rinse and repeat makes for some very hard cider.

mix with Jack Daniels BBQ wood chips to make a nice dark amber liquor that, after a month or so, taste pretty close to some JD.

Just beware ive done the cider freezing technique and if not careful it will turn to vinegar. I used to make hard cider and liquor. Started doing it when i was 17 ha. Ive built countless stills. Really enjoyed making it. It truly is an art. Havent made any in a long long time. Especially after i found out the wife was pregnant. Can't raise my son behind bars.

It sucks that making liquor is a criminal Federal Offense. Why can you legally make beer and wine, but not liquor???

I heard Fannin County (or could have been City of Blue Ridge) passed something to allow distilling for personal use. Need to investigate.

Hate to sound like the safety police, but no way I would ever tell anyone to do that in their home.......one small leak and you have a huge issue.......better to use the shed in the back yard (well ventilated if you are using LP)........or so I have been told......I don't know anything about any of this and also lost all my guns in a tragic boat accident.
