How to use someone else's screen name.

When I'm making a post in a thread how do I put a members screen name into that post so that it he knows I used him as a reference are further backing up his comments. I usually just write the member's name down but I don't know how to make it show up on his account that I used his screen in that post. You'll have to forgive me I'm not really all that good with computers so give me a detailed description if you would please. Thank you so much

I was told how do it at one point the can never get it to work. I just tried it while ago and it did just fine. I think I might have been leaving a space after the @ which is the reason why it wouldn't work before. But I tried it with no space and it worked fine. I appreciate all the help gentlemen!
