How would a suzuki samurai have fared in this snow and ice?

My opinion: it doesn't matter what it is or how many wheels, etc. 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, etc. Rubber spinning on ice can slide and lose traction. It's more about how you drive than anything else. I've spun out my Jeep YJ and TJ on ice.

agreed with Doug power to wheels on ice means nothing. Keyword is traction. I've been sitting still on an interstate with 4x4 and slide off to the berm . Actually that would have been better if snow was on a berm to navigate on snow rather then ice. Studded tires or chains help but I haven't seen studded tires in years.

I own an 87 Sammy. The parts are crazy cheap. I just replaced my water pump it was 7 bucks. It goes everywhere. I have never been able to get mine stuck. That being said it is pretty well built for off road. Unfortunately my battery gave it up in the cold so I did not drive it during the storm. I have no doubt It would have made it where most vehicles did not.

also keep in mind that even stock sammys do great off rd, on road they can't get out of their own way...

There is a member here, Pandora Tracy. I helped him find a Samurai that a friend of mine had rotting in the yard. The guy planned on making it something awesome, but ran out of money or interest.

PT did turn into something awesome. I think he put a VW diesel in it. The thing is radical! Maybe he'll notice this thread and chime in. There was a build thread on another forum, but I don't remember where. Unstoppable machine. Coolest I've seen yet.

Yeah i thought most of those seemed high for what they are...but i am not very schooled in their pricing. I thought the $2999 one seemed a bit low priced in comparison. When i find one down the road it does not have to be super shiny and pretty, but it doesnt hurt either.

They do run very slow from what ive read. Again, not an issue...no long road trips will be taken and my work commute is all back roads anyway.

I have a decent DD/Off-roader. I got caught up in that stuff last night (8 hours).4 wheel high/low both spun on ice. I do not think anything slight of a tank, can fair too well on ice.

Stupid question but would anyone ever use tire chains on 4 by's?
