So dumb, I guess that's what happens when you don't have situational awareness and 'carry' like tool.

Piss his pants.Another reason NOT to open carry. What could he do,once they had it.? Cry?
Carry more than 1 gun? - Some people do.
That would most surely end in shots fired. Would he have been justified to shoot that college student?
Was the other one carrying a shotgun?
At one point when the guy guy grabs the carry holders weapon, it most certainly gets pointed at him.
- Don't get disarmed
- If you do, don't start a fight with the guy who just took your gun, while he's pointing it at you
- If he then departs with the gun (and friends) don't follow him out into the street to continue the argument
- If you have a secondary firearm, don't even try and retrieve it while the guy with your primary weapon can see you do it and has your former gun pointed at you.
"But now, there's a bad guy out there with a gun, and it's my fault!"
Yes, but all his buddies already have other guns. You haven't contributed to making the world worse, and at least up until the point you followed them out into the street, you're still alive.

I do not disagree, the thing that I was focused on was that the guy carrying was oblivious. I have carried on my six (OWB holster), although not an optimal carry position (which I no longer use), I made certain that my weapon did not print so nobody knew it was there. Situational awareness is key, I always pay attention to what is going on around me, that guy acted like he didn't even know other people were in the room.
Oh, that's true.
But I don't see this as much a matter of open vs concealed carry. Some people spend a lot of effort posing in front of mirrors trying to figure out if they're printing. I'll bet money that as a gun guy, you can spot people who are probably carrying whether they are printing or not. I certainly can, so it's not a superpower.
My emphasis is on making sure that I have effective control over the retention of that firearm.
Just to be a bit controversial, that's a huge plus for appendix carry, because you're much more aware of what and or who might be trying to deprive you of your firearm.
Situational awareness is important too, of course. And while you might not be able to avoid stopping at places known for criminality to buy a soda or some smokes, you need to upgrade your Cooper's Color from condition yellow to at least condition orange if you do.
That and - of course - not going in dangerous places at all, if you can avoid it.

The guy literally just had it hanging out of his back pocket, no holster lol.
The key take away from this in my opinion is don’t go places that you don’t belong.
No amount of self awareness could have changed this other than just choosing a different gas station, dude was the epitome of a “soft target” in there.
