Maybe you plan on using them for life, but I imagine most end up forgotten about in the back of the safe after they get replaced with newer and better technology. They are a money pit to be sure, one that most will never recoup a single dollar from.

Yep. Once you buy a suppressor , unless you plan on taking a loss its yours for life. I refuse to lose that so I just find uses for them. Like my AAC evo CQB-9. It aint worth a damn suppressing a 9mm. Works great with the 32acp.

I see you judge quality by price huh? Fact is a word "value" is at play here. If every one of HTA's can's were garunteed to perform the same, or even 5% of their cans were going to fail in this manner...i would agree with you. But you cats catch wind of one of their lines of can's having an issue pop up here and there(on a LIFETIME warrantied product) and all of a sudden the brand is bewitched. Non of your suppressor come with a guarantee. ALL are prone to failure, and all will experience failure. Dont kid yourself. Nothing is fool proof, ever. Youll just be crying harder when your $1500 can ****s the bed.

There are other good reasons to spend more on a can(weight, dims, perceived sound level), but to convince yourself that it will never fail makes you a fool. Atleast HTA was intelligent enough to put the serial # on the right parts, is easily user serviceable, is a great company that supports their product, offers competitive suppression, has a lifetime warranty, and comes in at a price point where you can afford more ammo, mags, and range time.

Please name your favorite brand of suppressor, ill see if i can dig up some failures.

I'll give you 2. My favorite cans are the liberty essence and mystic. I have never seen much negative press on these and even so, I bet there are no cases where the whole damn can split in half and exploded. I'd be interested to know if there have been any major incidents of the cans tearing in half

Trying to find "any" fail is just misguided. People want to see manufacturer error leading to damage, we can control ourselves and our machinery, we can't control the machinist.

What exactly was changed to correct the issue and have they issued any sort of recall since they have identified specific serial numbers? How do we know that this is a machining error and not a design flaw?

It does matter how it fails. Shooting firearms is dangerous enough. I don't want my face blown off due to a cheap can. Price DOES come in to play. Granted every piece of machinery can break but higher priced items generally fail much less.

I'm not sure what they changed. My understanding from those who have had this issue is that HTA replaced it at no cost and said that certain serial numbers were identified, I've never seen a range of numbers posted. As for machining error vs design flaw, I think it is a design flaw due to overly thinned out walls on the tube, with the fluting as a likely culprit.

If I had a kestrel I would be calling or emailing to check if my can needed to be sent in. If anyone has the answers, it's HTA

This is true. I have a BRANDNEW suppressor I was trying to sell for $100 cheaper and no one wants to buy it. They rather buy from dealer or something... Hahaha
