Have you considered building your own? Caspian has nice frames, and you could make it just the way you want and have the satisfaction of shooting something you built if that’s your thing.

Dan Wesson all day in that price range. If you could find a classic commander you would fall in love.
Series 70 Colt Gold Cup National Match From the 1970's/early 80's. Best out the box 1911 made in my humble opinion and the finish is gorgeous. You should be able to find one in that price range.

There's a used DW Commander Classic in the case at Big Woods Goods in Holly Springs for $1,200. Screamin' price.
I have a few Dan Wessons and I've found them to be my sweet spot for 1911s. Les Baer comes in around the same price range and are excellent as well, although a bit more "raw" (understandable once you hold them side by side).
WC, NHC, EB, and the likes are very nice as well. Not enough to get me to buy another one over a DW these days though.
If you want to spoil yourself, scope out Alchemy Custom Weaponry. That's the route I'm going for my next premium 1911 here soon.
Ive had 2 classic commanders, one has a patriot special edition that ive regretted getting rid of every day.
If i could have two guns back it would be that one and a 788 308.
I’ve got 3 ruger sr1911’s and they’re great shooters. 2 commanders. 1 in .45 and one in 9mm. Have a full size in 10mm I just picked up from a fellow ODT member. They’re not as fancy as a DW but they do the job.
Can’t go wrong with the DW or my current favorite one to shoot, Springfield TRP.
My first DW was a Commander Classic that I let go on here back in 2018 and regretted it pretty much on the drive home from the meet haha. Such a nice piece. I'd love to have it back for sure.
