My go-to is my DW Specialist. Second pick would be a CZ Shadow 2, followed very closely by a Beretta M9A4. I love the look of the older S&W semis but have no trigger time on one myself.

In "Single-Stack" trim, I prefer the feel.of:

Big plus besides the size, weight, is they are ambidextrous.
