I've been spending more time on other sites recently and one of the sites has pretty cool way of reminding people about the rules.

Whenever someone breaks a rule, instead of removing their post completely or reminding them about the rules in a reply, the content of their post gets replaced with

I didn't read the rules of the site so my post was deleted.

Seems like a pretty easy way to encourage people to read the rules of the site.

I'm a member of a forum that replaces "inappropriate" avatars with a stock image that says "My avatar was unacceptable. " some people just leave it there, like a trophy.

I replace them with a picture of a kitten here!

I actually like that idea about changing the text.

I am thinking once we have to start doing this type of crap to tell people to be responsible, we change the site name.

People know the rules ( except for a small percentage of newbies), they just like to test and see what they can ey away with.

It was said in the other thread, it's probably less than 5% that the mods spend 99% of their time on.

Target them directly. Done
