I feel kinda weird saying this...

I’m not a competition shooter I was just speaking solely from a self defense and EDC viewpoint. I’m aware they’re more accurate but for me a 1911 is just too much of an extra burden to carry all day long at work.

I was trying to mention that no holds barred, anything goes, the "ideal" pistol is a 1911/2022. granted open guns are usually $4k+, heavy as ****, huge, and require more ammo tuning to get them to run 100%. so when the question is "what's the best gun?" it's almost certainly an open USPSA pistol.

if you're trying to figure out the best Carry gun. well size, weight, everything gets factored in. So I carry that Baer or a sig 365xl with dot.

and
Absolutely race guns so impractical, financialy, size just a one deal unit. Now days they make carry 1911 that stupid accurate. Les Bear for instance but they are a bit big for everyday carry. You gotta be a Haus to carry daily. There are so many options carry wise. A perfect day at the range is a 1911 on the knock down plates. Can't get enough of that.

I’ve been alternating between a Glock 30SF and Glock21 for about a year now, but I slip a LCP22 in my pocket when my clothes don’t allow me to securely carry my .45’s. ( I wear gym shorts a lot)

true, but some of the "race gun" features have trickled into other areas. I have a 365 with a red dot that fits in a pocket. Pretty cool how the competition figures out what's best and it makes it's way down to us

@OP, that wasn't just a 1911, that was a Les Baer TRS that's wearing Mammoth Ivory slim grips. I bought it for my son when he was born. I've carried it for more than 10,000 miles and in every state from here to PA and out through New Mexico. It's got at least 20k rounds through it and it was still that tight.

I have another I'm thinking about selling to fund that Tavor but not 100% on that yet.
So now that you've lifted the veil of secrecy, thank you steviesterno steviesterno for letting me handle that beauty! It was a pleasure. I'm sure you will enjoy the X95 I foresee in your future.

Not sure why people think a 40oz gun is heavy.... I daily carry a S&W 4566 & it comes out to 44oz loaded.

I don't use holsters, only a good belt and pants/shorts that fit. I sometimes even forget it's there.

This tread inspired me to take out my recently acquired CMP 1911A1 and run some rounds through it. Purred like a kitten but definitely not a match gun. I realized I needed way more pistol practice as well.
