Harley built the damn V-Rod for one reason, so they could compete in the NHRA Motorcycle drag series (All about CC's) CU not allowed. I've had Harleys Hondas Kawasaki's one Suzuki a BSA and a few other off breeds. Loved em all. Always loved my go fast didn't matter whos name was on it, it was mine.

Okay let me first say that you probably already know more about bikes than I do. But I do remember the Honda 4s being very popular. And from my Easyriders subscription days I remember the V Rod being a sort of compromise so that HD could meet emissions regs.

Lots of opinions here. But to ME it looks like HD is going the way of baseball cards, Elvis collectibles, Hot Wheels and GI Joe's.

Yeah and by now I'm pretty sure it's a publicly owned/traded company. That's the problem right there. Much like my rant about the homo Mustang crossover I see this hurting the value of the bikes if not the entire brand. Kinda like the quartz Rolex from the 80s. Nobody wanted them.
Maybe it's just me but there has to be some value or virtue in dying with dign6rather than going with the flow and dumbing it down for the masses. But again... probably a publicly owned company.
Not too long ago I saw an interview with Toby Keith on Fox News Sunday. He has made or is worth a BILLION dollars now. I don't like 99.5% of his music but that's beside the point. He used to do close to 200 shows a year. Now he's down to less than half of that. For one he doesn't have to tour that hard anymore. But when Chris Commie ********** Wallace asked him about it he said " These days the group's are playing that sorta hip hop country. And best of luck to them if they can make it big doing it. But I'm not doing that." There's a valuable lesson in his response.

The Livewire is trying to sell based on Harleys name and style. Zero has beat them to the punch. Their bikes are cheaper, perform better, and there are way more models to choose from.

I love me some American Iron, but it’s future is limited. I’ll keep my ‘56 Ford forever, but our next new vehicle(s) will be electric.

I know enough to be dangerous. My wife however is the GM of a Harley Dealership and has been a GM in the industry for over 25 Years, so yeah I know enough. I do not disagree with your original premise. What you are noticing is you are getting old and many of the things that hold fond memories for you are also getting old.
The allure of a bad ass loud and obnoxious Harley still tugs at my heart strings. It reminds me of an old saying.. I'm not as good as I once was, but I am as good once as I ever was. You know you're getting old when 25 year olds look like 16 year olds in your minds eye.

So have you seen the commercial for the new electric Hummer? I didn't like the old Hummer H2 because it was such a blatant attempt to cash in on real H1 Humvees. And now there's gonna be an all electric model? So is it go for 15 or 20 miles between charges?

Harley-Davidsons are an expensive way to turn gas into noise without making any horsepower. By making them electric they just killed the nostalgia factor and probably alienated the few customers they have left.

The acceleration is pretty impressive though, I'll give them that. let's see the technology advance to a point where they can build a bike that is lighter than a 600cc inline-4 supersport
