I guess it's all over...

Horse power? You can't be serious. Show me a Jap Bike that can turn in a 215 mph 1/4 mile run. Do you know why Harley was not around for the majority of the NHRA motorcycle racing? They were too large (displacement) the jap Bikes were averaging 160-185 1/4 mile speeds. Yes they have more HP but lower torque and smaller displacement. I have seen Harleys run 24 mph 1/4 mile @ 5400 rpm I have owned many motorcycles and as I said before I loved them all. Jap bikes are fun and quick, Harleys are fun and fast. There is a difference. Horse power vs torque, top end vs acceleration.

I knew a guy that ran top fuel and he told me he loved racing the Harleys. When the light turned green, they usually exploded...

Now, to be honest, when he said his bike was a “Kawasaki”, it was only loosely based on the design, but I’d be surprised if the V-Twins had any HD parts on them either.

So last night I saw this commercial and didn't believe it (at first) but then it made sense. The commercial showed a damn electric Harley Davidson. Now how sad is that? Some of y'all will recall my thread about the new electric 4 FOUR ****ing door Mustang crossover. That was bad enough. But this is a new low. Granted I've never owned an HD but I've always wanted a Sporty 1200. I like them better than the big ass bagger Shriner Bikes. Nothing personal. Just what I like.
Anyway this is just wrong as wrong can be. Now at the same time I kinda think an electric scooter would be a decent option in a small town setting like Darien, Shellman, on the islands etc. But it should never ever have HD emblems on it.
So I guess that's it. All the cool factor has officially been sucked out of the bike AND car industry.

I could really care less. Never had a Harley or a will to want one either myself.

That Mustang is a ****ing travesty though! Lol

Again ... horsepower and going fast have little to do with traditional Harleys and their owners. I never owned one but it still seems to me that performance was a good ways down the priority list for HD buyers.
If we left here in the morning and rode to Texas? I know which one you’d rather ride back home. I tried several when I was younger and still enjoy a bullet bike every now and then . I don’t get why some folks get so worked up about other people’s preferences? I ride Harleys cause I want (sometimes have too haha) . Southern Devil (CartersvilleHarley) will not be carrying the live wire.

Got my first Harley in 1969 had one ever since, mixed some others in kaws, Yammer dirt bikes and a very fast Honda 750. Tell me where we going and I will see you there. dont give a damn how fast you get there and I will get more waves from folks than you will.
That's the point. It's not about the most efficient or high performance bike and I don't think it ever was. I'll be the first to say that Jap bike companies have designed and built more efficient bikes for decades. But style and attitude count for a lot. Just like Lexus builds a better vehicle than most European companies. Seiko has built more accurate watches than the Swiss companies at a fraction of the price. But nobody buys luxury brands for the performance or reliability.

Some probably can’t afford’em? Some may like the near fetal position of a bullet bike?
