I guess it's all over...

Pretty sure NWS would do it and walk out friends with half the place.

Harley has been going broke for years this is just another stab at dragging in a younger demographic just like the Vrod was suppose to.
I agree . And like I previously said it would be SO much better to die with dignity than compromise with hipsters and soy boys.
" Its better to burn out than to fade away..."
Remember that line from that old Canadian hippie ********** ?

I've wanted an old Triumph twin on a rigid frame.

I built one from parts back in the early 90's a lot of fun on local back roads, not much else :)

I've had bikes off and on for 45 years, something of everything over the years.

My observations are that Harleys were built to cruise comfortably for many miles, and perfectly suited to the open roads of America. A lot of European / British bikes were built for the narrower, twistier roads that predominate over there. It's horses for courses.

My Sportster would have sucked back in England, my T140 would have died a thousand deaths running on the interstates. Harleys aren't sports bikes, and don't pretend to be, Ducati don't build a cruiser with stereo and footboards, for the same reason.

Electric bikes may be the, (deluded), future, but then I think the love of internal combustion I grew up with, and still have, is much less prevalent in current and future generations.

I don't mind the cars going to 4 cylinder turbo if they have it worked out right. Many years ago I read that Germany charged you for your tags by engine displacement as much as year and value. So having a turbo 4 made sense. And I never ever looked at a diesel powered car until I worked at an independent VW/Audi shop back in 06/07. Those TDI cars are the only VWs I would own.

I had a 09' TDI. The online forums (tdiforums.com) were some of the best diy guides around for any vehicle, and one of the main reasons I bought it. All the commercial diesel mechanics in Merica didn't really have a diesel passenger vehicle but the TDI, and they took to the internet with it.

I wish I had one of the 06 or earlier so I could run biodiesel in it. The Cali regulations messed all of that up with the new emission systems and the DPF in the 09+. That and the HPFP failing ($10 - 16K repair) because of dirty US diesel made the 09+ VW TDI liability to own when all was said and done.

I actually made good money on that car when VW had to buy it back from me.

Yeah the performance is way down the list to me. And when was performance really important to traditional Harley owners? If it was important they would've bought something else. As in water cooled, shaft driven maybe . Not to mention an inline 4 or so etching aside from a V twin.
See with Harleys it's like 1911s. We all know there's plenty of other more efficient makes and models out there. But you don't buy Harleys or 1911s to be the cutting edge modern technology guy. Cool goes it's own way.

I got 2 Ducati twins in the garage that will perform with the best Jap bikes out there. I also built the snot outta my EVO Harley Heritage so a few of us do care about performance.

I want cruising comfort I grab the HD. I want performance in the curves I grab the Ducati. I wanna tour in mountains I take the BMW....still figuring out the dirt roads on the Aprillia...

Show me the inline 4's turning in 200+ mph 1/4 mile stats then we can talk.
Harley built the damn V-Rod for one reason, so they could compete in the NHRA Motorcycle drag series (All about CC's) CU not allowed. I've had Harleys Hondas Kawasaki's one Suzuki a BSA and a few other off breeds. Loved em all. Always loved my go fast didn't matter whos name was on it, it was mine.

You don't mention Yamaha which is a shame. A V-Rod is a lethargic slug compared to a carbon fiber Gen2 VMax.
