I Need Recomendations On Dash Cams

I paid $20 for one at Walmart. I think it's called a black web. Records a constant loop of 1080p onto a SD card. I've got two of them front and back on my car. The next time I get rear ended I will have an hd pic of the other guy with his phone in his hand. I've had them for about a year now with no issues

Ive been running a Rexing since 2016. Have no idea the model or if it records speed. But the brand is good to go. I paid $100 and the quality of picture is good for the price.

I have a 2018 F150 which has great cameras. I do not understand why they can not record front and back with those cameras, but they don't. I would have happily paid for that option.

There's legal issues with putting recording devices on vehicles in public places.

As a person you have a lot more flexibility, but if Ford was capturing video like that they would have to go through a lot more legal shenanigans, kind of like Google Maps has to. It took us years to get drivecams into our truck fleet, and that wasn't all because the unions hated it.

Great info, thanks. I have seen prices from <$20 to >$100. I want good quality video with plenty of storage.

Rexing V1P, dual camera, runs close to $200.

I have this Priveeo, I got for $50 with dual cam:

and this Rexing, V1LG, with GPS and dual cam, (on sale for $80, IIRC):

Both use MicroSD card, viewable on the cell phone.
Make sure to use card designed to be written over thousands of times, they are less likely to fail and loose your recording:

I am glad I have them. Had several near-misses with other cars, it is nice knowing that I have a video record on my side.

Could you cite a GA law? I've made videos in parks and other public places such as on the sidewalk -- no issues there.

No idea about GA law, and like I said, as a person you have almost complete rights to video a public space. I think there may be an issue around filming places where kids congregate (bus stops, school playgrounds, etc.) but that's the only thing I've ever heard of.

For a company like Ford to enable constant video recording in their vehicles would be a whole different ball of wax. Look at all the issues Google had when it first started adding Street View video capture to it's mapping cars. I know it took our legal department years to get cams installed in our truck fleet, although that was also due to union pushback.

Ford could probably do it, but given the small number of individuals who have dash cams now it probably wouldn't be a popular option. If they made it standard they would probably have most people ask to have it disabled, which means they installed a bunch of stuff that made their trucks more expensive for no real reason. In fact I'd bet they would even have to spend some time ($) in court dealing with lawsuits over it, just like Google did.

I'm thinking the only way you will see this in US cars as a standard feature is if it gets regulated in like backup cameras did.
