I want to find someone local to do custom scroll engraving

The only engraver semi local to Atlanta that I know of other than myself is Jim Small out in Madison and is the man that taught me a lot of what I know about the art. A consumate Southern Gentleman to boot.

tim,
you certainly said all the right things and far more polite than I in regards to laser engraving.... I assume the single action is by you.... nice work. I very much need a good engraver for my own firearms as well as to refer customers to.... every time I find one they either retire or die.... or those like Winston Churchill that make for good friends and great instructors but who can afford them. my hands don't allow me to do much in the way of engraving or scrimshaw I so loved to do.... too many years of it before the advent of the air powered gravers. may we please see more of your work, maybe something in the way of rose and scroll... my worst weakness, it's pitiful when you buy guns cause of the engraving. thank you for bumping this up and for your words.... hope we can meet up next time I'm in the state.

Thanks Fifth, Yes I did that gun about 4 years ago and sold it last week. As for rose and scroll I have never done any English scroll but I think I'm about to on a Nikko over/under. A friend of mine that used to engrave for Purdey showed me a little about it last year, just have yet to practice what he told me and figure out the nuances. When I get that done I'll post it here someplace.

I used to serve on the board of directors as Vice President of the Firearms Engravers Guild of America (FEGA). Our whole purpose in life is mainly to educate not only each other but the public especially. Many folks don't have any idea how gun engraving is done and even more don't know good from bad.

Winston is at the top of the heap as far as American engravers go, arguably the best. I particularly love his bulino game scenes, they're just perfect. He is now retired for the most part.
