You dont need AP ammo. use Ball M80 7.62 to start out, then try military 30.06 rounds which shoudlnt penetrate. if they are level IV.

More power to it if it stops it lol. If its ceramic, it may only take one hit and then shatter.

i have a 50, i do not have any AP at the moment. I also have some 30 cal. AP pulls loaded up in some 300 ultra mag. I am sure somewhere in atlanta has some 50 AP.

Make sure you surround the plates with a cardboard box. I want to see what kind of wicked spall you are going to get from stopping a .50 AP round. I get the feeling if the bullet didn't kill you the blunt force trauma and shrapnel will.

I'm looking for 4" groups at 30-50 yrds. Lol shouldn't be hard.
I expect I'll have to design some kind of heavy duty cushion for .50 rds. We'll see if it can stop .50 rds from penetrating first.

That's quite a task you have there good luck and let us know the results. Even if the 50 cal doesn't penetrate the armor the person would not make it due to collapsed lungs and massive internal bleeding lol
