Hey everyone, my uncle has a rifle that he’s called a 6.5 jap for 50 years. My son and him pulled the bolt out and apart and I’m trying to get it back in (dear GOD). I’ve tried to ID this and I’ve had no luck. Surely somebody knows what this thing is. He’s said he’s fired 6.5 jap cartridge out of it 30 years ago for sure. The markings are L2750 and a marking at the number and where the serviceman that brought it back scrolled USA and some other scrolling. No cartridge markings on the 30” Barrell. The bolt does not look the same as any Arisaka models or Maruro. Please help so the son ( my boy🤣) can reclaim holding Japanese rifle status from Paw Paw again. Thanks!!!

Daylight photos of the entire rifle might help.

I really want to say this looks like an Italian rifle in 6.5 carcano…I think all the Japanese rifles had blow by holes drilled in the receiver tops and the rear of the bolt appears the same

Japanese rifles typically have arsenal markings on the top of the receiver, no matter what model. Doesn't look to be a Japanese issue to me.

Thank you!!

It is a Japanese Type I (capital i, for Italian, Carcano) rifle made for the Empire of Japan by the Italians early in WWII.
I just did like 30 min of picture diving and agree Type 1 carcano

Good evening gentlemen. I agree wholeheartedly it is a 6.5 carcano. I Have the bolt assembled and cleaned. I also have the correct Ammo on the way for the boy to shoot a pig with. Thank you all so much for the assistance. Paw paw said “well I’ve shot 6.5 jap out of it” 🤣 I bet you did paw paw, I bet you did. Thanks again gentlemen and a good day to you.
