ID a 6.5 jap rifle

Good evening gentlemen. I agree wholeheartedly it is a 6.5 carcano. I Have the bolt assembled and cleaned. I also have the correct Ammo on the way for the boy to shoot a pig with. Thank you all so much for the assistance. Paw paw said “well I’ve shot 6.5 jap out of it” 🤣 I bet you did paw paw, I bet you did. Thanks again gentlemen and a good day to you.
By "correct ammo" I assume you mean 6.5x50mm Arisaka? It's not the same as 6.5X52mm Carcano (or Parravicini–Carcano). The Empire of Japan contracted for the rifles chambered in 6.5x50mm Arisaka. Just to be clear.

I suppose the Italians could have made a similar rifle for their own military and it could be chambered in 6.5x52mm, but the rifle pictured in the OP isn't nearly goofy looking enough to be an Italian Army rifle.

Be careful as you might be able to put the wrong 52mm ammo into battery- and blow up the gun. (Just Like forcing a hollow point blackout round into a 556 chamber)
