ID this Snake

Plain belly or red belly water snake. I found one digging in my flower bed a 100 yards from water. Joker was a fast striker, got me on the hand when I tried to catch him. Im getting slow in my old age.

The first one I came in contact with was very aggressive. That thing repeatedly struck at me. He was also about a hundred yards from the pond by my outbuilding.

Wrong Merlin Perkins. Northern banded water snake. Non poisonous

Big snake.

Its a dark colored snake that is not poisonous. Eats rodents and bird eggs

Snakes are not poisonous, you can eat them.

Sunbathing one. Saw one trying to eat a catfish, and he was doing pretty good job at it. No telling how many die a moccasin.
