Importance of adopting pets from shelters.

My last 3 dogs including the 2 knuckles heads I have now are shelter rescues.

I'd be willing to pony up the $ for an ODT'r that will adopt a rescue from a shelter. If your looking for a pet and need help with the adoption fees shoot me a PM and we'll make it happen.

You Sir are good man and an inspiration!

I'd be willing to throw in a few $ to help a brother out with an adoption fee as well.

We foster for SOAPS ( sweet onion animal protection society) We have 7 personal dogs and from 1-??? other dogs at any given time. We have managed to accumulate about 20 cats. Pets are therapeutic as well. Any one of mine can make me smile when Im pissed or just had a crappy day. Wont ever buy a pure bred...high maint. Lots of health issues seems like. Lots of good dogs are lost forever every day unfortunately. SOAPS "fix's" every animal that comes through as well but that is slow to see benefits from.

Before I was married, my now wife and my first pet was an adopted cat. I've been married 20 years now, and all of our pets have been adoptions. A cat, a mutt, a Rottweiler, a Chi-Weenie, and now a Great Pyrenees/hound mix. They have all been great parts of our family! My middle kid, my 15 year old son, recently found a guy selling tegu lizards that are wild caught in Florida. Instead of killing them as an invasive species, this guy sells them as pets. So now we have a rescue lizard! He is really tame and rides around in my son's hoodie. It seems like animals know when you give them a second chance.
