Another personal story from the master of confusion ...
I started smoking when I was in the Navy, in 1961, I was seeing two underage girls and they both smoked.
No, it was never consexual, as the three of us were always together.
20 Years later, at my third job after leaving the Navy, I kept feeling this funny feeling in my chest, and decided to call my family Doctor, who told me to have somebody drive you to the emergency room.
Always being an independent person, I went to my Boss' Office and told him I was having a heart attack and going to The E.R.
Curiously, he gave me a very skeptical look, as if he didn't believe me.
At the E.R. they checked me out, and put 'Radio Monitors' all over my upper body and put me in an observation room.
I went to sleep, and sometime during the night I woke up as 5 or 6 people were running my bed down a hall-way.
Naturally I asked them who was winning this race, and they just as naturally told me to go back to sleep.
Now, I was in the Intensive Care Unit, ICU. Over the next couple of days I went through a slew of tests, ultrasound, xrays, and I was expecting a colonoscopy, but they told me I had Aortal Fibrillation. AFib is the accepted acronym.
Later, they took me to IU Med Center and a Dr. Zipes, renowned Cardiologist. Google it.
An Experimental Medication Trial, Cold Turkey on Smoking and back to work.
In about 5 years, I went from a 34 Inch waist, 180 Pounds to a 48 Inch waist and 306 Pounds.
My next 'release' will be how I lost 120 Pounds in about 9 Months. Please remind me if I forget.
