When I was a steel worker, we used to do some super way beyond sketchy ****....because we had to. Ever stood atop a 20' extension ladder set up in the bucket of a fully extended 80' boom lift?....I have....at that point youre only hoping it kills you or else youll be pretty effed up....

I've put a 26' extension ladder on a 25' round Pole light to change a bulb...never again.
