Is it cerakote or durakote? How can you tell?

Never had a gun coated and know very little about coating. But have a sig 220 that I am thinking about selling that has been coated FDE. I got it in a trade a few years back and I'm not sure if the previous owner told me it was cerakoted or durakoted. How do you tell by looking at the pistol? Anyone have an opinion? Thank you in advance for your help my ODT brethren. ..

Hard to tell from a photo, but I am thinking duracoat, looks pretty thick.

Duracoat rubs off pretty easy, cerakote not so much. So I would go with dura

I would say cera looks more flat and dura is shiny. Also depends on the cerak application.

Cerakote tends to be more matte, whereas Durakote is more glossy. Cerakote also has a texture to it and durakote feels a little more "slick." From the wear patterns on the slide in your last picture, I would guess that the pistol had been Durakote'd.

There is at least one other choice out there to complicate matters . Brownells sells a house brand product as well
