Is there a "cure" for old Toyota silver paint?

2006 Highlander. Sun damaged clearcoat? Anything other than strip and repaint?

I swear silver paint is the worst to fade.. Try wet sand and then a cutter compound with a high speed buffer... But, that looks pretty rough..

Best to strip and repaint. Original clearcoat is gone as is most of the color base.
Typical of the eco-friendly water based automotive paints used today.
