He'd come sit right beside me while I was eating them looking so sad, until I'd offer him one, then he'd run to the tree and eat it like no tommorrow.

While I agree North GA has a little something to offer, it doesn't even compare to several states out west imo. Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho are amazing if you love being outdoors.
Glad you had a great time and were able to escape for a few.....
 
I miss the East Tn mountains and foothills where I'm from, everything is green, all those summers spent on Boone and Watuaga lake camping, skiing, hiking, riding my bike down those deep country roads..I'm home sick.
