Looking for some 8mm mauser plinking ammo if there's any out there. Surplus would be ideal but am interested in commercial ammo if the price is right

Try Aim Surplus. They usually have PPU, 196 grain for a decent price. I have bought several hundred rounds of this.

I would buy this myself (if closer). The bullets are beautiful, lead core, copper jacket, easy to pull down. I necksize the brass and put it away for a rainy day or when I don't want to pick up brass (it's Berdan primed). I reduce the powder charge by 12% by weight (it's a cut card type powder) and load the powder and bullets in Boxer primed cases for the G43. It's great ammo, superior to any other I've used expect Portuguese.

I had great luck with it as it shoots very true through my M48 and CZ24/47. I also like the Greek stuff since it's the same weight as well. Had lots of Romanian and Turkish ammo at one point but I hated that the sights didn't graduate correctly with those lighter bullets.
