Yes his was a grown one though. My picture is of a juvenile. That bastard tried to sneak up on me while I was sitting up against a tree during turkey season this year.The oneckarr killed with a dozer is a copperhead

Copperheads are ALOT MORE AGGRESSIVE THAN RATTLESNAKES.. at least to my experience they have been anyways

to look out for these also since we live in the same area. I’ve seen and heard of some monster rattlers like that timber rattler around here, but haven’t seen a copperhead in about 20 years here. I’ve seen more snakes the last 3-4 weeks than I have the last ten years here.

I have a friend over in Heflin, AL who has around 30 (live) timbers. He's been playing with those things for 50 years and has yet to be bitten. I don't want any part of them, and told him he is crazy, but he has had good luck handling them...so far. LOL
Funny thing, I’ve seen more poisonous snakes this yr than I have see non poisonous ones.. it’s usually right the opposite.. even our little jack russel got bit by a poisonous one early in the spring.. I figured it was a copperhead
Ask him does he know the story from back in the 80’s or 90’s about the 2 drunk men playing with the rattlesnake and both got bit.. good friend of mine drove one to the hospital in the ambulance.. said he was projectile vomiting and spasmodic.. everytime he vomited it would hit the ceiling of the ambulance.. I think both died
Yep rattlers will kill a man. Or ruin him for life.
Antivenin is only kept in Atlanta, as far as I know, in all of Ga...I find this odd, but when I spoke with an ER doctor in Columbus, Ga a couple years back, she told me all their antivenin has to be flown in on a case by case basis from Atlanta...
I always thought antivenin was pretty common and most likely kept in abundance around areas of snakes, and snake bites in high numbers...I was wrong about that.
Antivenin is perishable after a relatively short time, whether or not it is refrigerated. It is very expensive, and in short supply. Just because someone gets bit does not mean they will receive antivenin...In most cases, they will not. I know, it sounds crazy, but it is true.
There is a lot of logging in south Ga. Every year those guys see more rattlers than the average 20 people will see in a lifetime.
Wear snake boots. I wear them year round in south Ga. I've seen snakes, venomous and non venomous in every month of the year.
