Item Description: Looking for an at home defense weapon, specifically an Archon Type B. While struggling to find one at dealers here near Atlanta, someone referred me to ODT.

A guy named Gbear (https://www.theoutdoorstrader.com/members/gbear.128302/) reached out with pictures and a reasonable offer. We agreed $400 now and $400 when my FFL receives.

He gave me a tracking number of a unsent package and asked me to pay him the remainder. I asked if he could put the package in the mail and I would feel more secure. He didn’t want to do that so I requested my original $400 back. Now he’s ghosting me…

This whole thing stinks. Is this typical for ODT? Not sure I will trust this site again, but does anyone have suggestions on how to verify or other steps I should have taken?

I saw the positive feedback so I assumed…well looking now the only person that has given them positive feedback was from Ocean: https://www.theoutdoorstrader.com/trade/128195

Well I‘m seeing now ocean had positive feedback only from Gbear and the other feedback was that Ocean ripped someone else off for $900

Yikes. I wouldn't have sent money to someone I don't know with a feedback score of 1 and it's from a guy with negative feedback.

Mods are probably gonna nail you with a call out now and protect the scammers.

As others have said never send strangers money.......These are definitely scammers. ODT is a great place to meet folks face to face. I have done deals via mail, but that is always with long standing members after great communication.
