Item Description: Looking for an at home defense weapon, specifically an Archon Type B. While struggling to find one at dealers here near Atlanta, someone referred me to ODT.

A guy named Gbear (https://www.theoutdoorstrader.com/members/gbear.128302/) reached out with pictures and a reasonable offer. We agreed $400 now and $400 when my FFL receives.

He gave me a tracking number of a unsent package and asked me to pay him the remainder. I asked if he could put the package in the mail and I would feel more secure. He didn’t want to do that so I requested my original $400 back. Now he’s ghosting me…

This whole thing stinks. Is this typical for ODT? Not sure I will trust this site again, but does anyone have suggestions on how to verify or other steps I should have taken?

I'll add this, for an $800 gun you bet your ass I'd be driving to the meetup to inspect. IMO, only cheap stuff is for mailing.

ODT does. Mods with their pants on their heads dont.

Yes, it does suck, however "typical of ODT" no.. trust this site? You should never trust anything on the internet unless you're sure. You screwed up sending money that way, point blank

Let me count the ways in which you have erred.

1. You sent money to someone that you don't know, who has been an ODT member less than 1 year, and who only has had published dealings with 1 member. You did your research AFTER THE FACT, and THEN realized how flimsy his feedback is.

2. Instead of contacting one of the Mods or Admins with your problem, you posted your issue in the open forum, where none of the ODT members is able to help you.

The Mods are NOW aware of the problem, and we are looking at it.

Did you work the deal with Gbear via PM, telephone, text or email?

I've sent a PM to Gbear.

He called me from a No Caller Idea line then tried saying something like, I don’t want my wife knowing about this sale so I‘m keeping my stuff private. Yeah bogus.. I know I was stupid here but hoping someone learns from my mistake.

Where did you set up the deal for the first $400? PM, text, phone conversation, email, etc.?
