A kind member just clued me in that this is actually a 1903A4 "sniper". The serial number and specs checks out... it's designed for a scope. I'll let it go today for the price previously listed, but if it doesn't sell I'll be reposting it correctly this time.

and where did he get that info exactly. I can see it being a cloned or replica of a sniper, but not actually a sniper based on what you are showing and without proper research from Springfield Research Services (SRS),Lots of fake rebuilds out there, very few actual sniper rifles are being sold for less than $2500-3000. I'd post your info over at CMP for some actual verification from some experts there before claiming here it is actually a "sniper",my 2 cents, still not a bad deal tho

Here are a few sites which list the 1903A4 serial numbers for the upper receiver (which matches). I don't know much about these and am just trying to sell it for my widowed mother in law. I pored over lots of pictures of authentic ones and couldn't spot a single difference except it just looks brand new. It's a beautiful gun and no one is making an offer on such a reasonable asking price so I'm tempted to buy it myself and finish the 2nd stock with my son as a project.

Serial Number is 4996280

Q: If this isn't a 1903A4, can you please educate me so I'll know?

After S/N 4997045 the rifle was listed as a O3A4. This rifle receiver was made in 1943 and falls in the transitional area from O3A3 to O3A4. It's a O3A4. The actual price point takes a hit due to the sporterization. Still would be nice to see it back in a proper stock and scope mounted:)
