Item Description: Failing health is forcing me to sell my beloved 1968 AMX in excellent condition. Purchased from the widow of the original owner in 2005 it had been driven just 45,000 miles since new and never in the winter, I have added another 7,700 miles since I have owned it. Engine is the AMC top of the line 390 mated to a 3 speed automatic, a rare Edelbrock R4b intake manifold with AMC part number was installed by the dealer prior to delivery when purchased new (one of the few group 19 performance parts on this AMX). I did install a new Edlelbrock carburetor when purchased. Ignition has been upgraded to electronic with the addition of a Crane XR-I which just adds one small wire to the distributor. Power brakes and steering make her a pleasure to drive. This AMX currently sits on Cragar SS wheels with radials but also included in this sale are a set of Magnum 500's with Red Line tires as seen in some of the pictures. Those wheels and tires have less than 100 miles on them, used for show duty only. This AMX has had but one repaint in 2000 and remains very original, no body work or restoration was done when applied. Undercarriage still wears its original undercoating that was applied at the dealership when new; there is zero rust on this AMX. Interior in very good condition, rally-pac gauges in center pod. Stock AM radio was converted to AM/FM with RCA input to run items like Ipod (that is what I use all the time), linked to a dual cone speaker to retain stock appearance. Like any 47 year old car she has a couple of chips and dings, most cannot be seen with camera but presents excellent. Chrome in excellent condition, trim has never been taken off of the car but is also in very good condition. So much that she earned a Palmetto Award at the 2009 Hilton Head Concours d'Elegance show, an Award of Distinction at the Ault Park Concours show as well. She has appeared on the show field at Churchill Downs at the Louisville Concours show and at the Kenneland Concours d'elegance as well. She was honored with Presidents Choice award at the 2007 Mopar Southern Classic. An American Motors Owners Association Gold winner in her only showing there as well and advanced to the senior division. . It has been featured on Spike Tv's “Muscle Car” show in 2010 during one of their “flashback” episodes. I cannot link that video but can mail you a copy for you to see. She was selected by Jay Leno at the 2011 Boca Raton Concourse show for review to be included in the video of that show for his web site, Jay Leno's Garage (only modern performance car to receive that honor). This AMX runs perfectly, turnkey ready to drive or show. I encourage all potential buyers to come see and drive her. http://imgur.com/a/eNH3A
