I was in the same boat. Wanted to stay away frim V22/rimx prices. Mainly down to the CZ AT-one and the b14r for me.

Deciding factor was the r700 footprint and accessories (action, stock, triggers and optic base mount). Built it for my daughter to get into shooting, so figured she would learn on it and I could upgrade parts with take offs that were easy to find or that I had and then I could replace the action with something else down the road and she would be familiar with the format already.

Went with a B14r steel, for now the OE stock is fine, timney trigger I had around, vortex strike fire 5-25 (similar feel and reticle to the razor Gen 2 I had at the time), ARC rings, and Burris 25MOA base.

She loves it and I enjoy shooting it as well.

If you want budget buy a Savage FS or Ruger American.

Find a nice "Used" Remington 541 or 541T-HB and never look back. Worth the money I bought A Target heavy barrel new in the early nineties and I'll never let it go.

Bergara B14r (Steel and CF)are about $905 and $955 new if you know where to look. My CF version shoots fantastic with Eley ammo.
