At the time I purchased the modem it was. I switched to AT&T. for a year. When I went back to Comcast, and looked up equipment compatibility, this modem wasn't listed for my area. The router should work for anything. I just bought a combination router/modem for simplicity. You can check equipment compatibility on the Xfinity website, or call 1-800-COMCAST
