Even though a couple naysayers have no vested interest in this and the buyer has already compared the information I've provided to what EOTech's website says to watch for, I'd like my reputation to not be muddied by people attempting to accuse me of trying to pass off a clone as the real thing. So let's go through the high points EOTech's watchlist.

-"Uncommon batteries. The Counterfeit products often, but not always require several small hearing aid style batteries."
Mine: Takes the correct N cell batteries. It also has the latch built into the body of the optic as EOTech shows.

-"A product that offers interchangeable Red and Green reticle colors."
Mine: Nope, only red here, it also doesn't distort when viewed from an angle (EOTech:"The L-3 EOTech holographic weapon sight presents a distortion free, parallax free aiming reticle regardless of the part of the sight window through which the reticle is viewed.")

-"Another feature that distinguishes a genuine L-3 EOTech sight from a counterfeit is the presence of an optical component behind the top part of the front window of the sight."
Mine: Here's another picture.

-"The flat, anti-reflection coated optics of the genuine L-3 EOTech sight reflects very little light while the optics of the counterfeits reflects a bright and distorted image of the room light."
Mine: I shot the following with a speedlight pointed directly at the optic, if it was reflective there would be light entering the lens like none other:

-"Lack of EOTech manufacturing and serial number sticker"
Mine: Picture worth a thousand words.

Nowhere does EOTech mention the color the screws and for what it's worth their optics have been provided in both cases and boxes.

Definitely not a clone. That's an early model box possibly before L3 bought eotech in 2005. I bought plenty back in the day. I hope this isn't a sign of old age for those that recognize this. lol. It wasn't that to far back.

Thanks guys. I hope I didn't come off as an ass by posting the above but I'm just not out to cheat anyone.

lol No, it doesn't feel like it was too far back. This particular optic is almost 10 years old though, MD: 12/04. Time just flies.

Didnt know they sold them without hard cases. I have a newer 512 and sold a 2004 Eotech (blister button 502). Love those optics!

I love them too. All of my EOTechs have been boxed, actually have never had one in a hard case, but all of mine have been older so that's probably why.

I think you did a great job in clearing up any misconceptions as well as educating us on the difference and what to be aware of .
thanks for taking the time to do so . It just sucks that at times even in the real world we are forced to spend time or money defending ourselves . At least you didn't need to hire a lawyer on this on.
