Item Description: For sale is a beautiful 1980 Smith & Wesson Model 17-4 chambered in .22 LR, featuring the classic 6-inch pinned barrel and recessed cylinder that define this era of high-quality Smith & Wesson craftsmanship. This K-frame revolver is finished in rich bluing and comes with its original matching box, no paperwork. It also includes the original numbered Magna grips, which are in excellent condition and add to the collectible value of the piece. Mechanically, the revolver is in excellent condition. The action is smooth, the timing is precise, and the lock-up is tight. The bore is clean and bright, and all mechanical functions perform exactly as they should. Cosmetically, it exhibits minor signs of honest use and handling wear, consistent with its age; however, the overall finish remains very strong. There’s a light turn line on the cylinder, but no abuse or damage—just the gentle patina of a well-preserved shooter.

This Model 17-4 is a fantastic example of a pre-MIM, pre-lock Smith & Wesson rimfire revolver, perfect for both collectors and those who appreciate old-world revolver craftsmanship. These pinned and recessed models are increasingly sought after, especially with the original box and factory-matching grips intact.

I'm parting with this one as I’m scaling back my collection to allocate funds to my son

Must be willing to meet in Athens, GA, as I do not have time in my schedule with my Son to travel. I am happy to ship it if you cannot travel

Beautiful! That's the model and even dash number that started my love for S&W's. From shooting rabbits, squirrels, crows, tin cans and knocking the occasional coon out of the tree if we forgot the rifle in the truck. And just think, Aug. 15th is the beginning of squirrel season in Ga. Start practicing now. You won't find a better 22 revolver than the S&W model 17.

Thanks Bud, always appreciate the kind words. Yes this is a true S&W staple and one everyone should own at least one of. Would be fun for a squirrel shoot too!
