How can you tell it's not a pre-model 30?

Lack of a model number on the frame is a pretty good indicator that it is a pre-model anything. The presence of a model number would indicate that it would NOT be a pre-model 30.

Given the available information, I don't think it is possible to designate it a Model 30 or pre-model 30. Obviously OP doesn't know. Even a picture of the left side would be helpful, but alas, we are denied that also.
