Congrats to yall who are aware of the law, ive been in this arguement several times with people trying to explain to them having a hand gun at 18 is LEGAL, and im law enforement and most people refuse to believe till I show them the law.

My 18 year old daughter has an SP101 in .38 SPL, and can properly fire, clear and field strip my Taurus and H&K. I don't have a problem with her owning a handgun. My sons were a different story at 18, and one of them never even had a BB gun! It really depends on the individual, but I met a guy last week who was in his 40's and shouldn't have a BB gun either.

BTW, if she didn't have other things she had to pay for, she would probably take you up on this!

The way you word it, yes. If someone buys a handgun with the intent of reselling to you to subvert the law, it is a straw purchase, and both you and the purchaser are guilty of a felony.

You can legally own a handgun at 18 in Georgia. However, you can not buy a handgun from a licensed dealer until you are 21, so it must be purchased from a private party or gifted to you by a parent. Many, if not most, private sellers may be uncomfortable selling a handgun to someone under 21, so the gifting route is probably your best avenue. You should also note that if your parent buys a gun and then you buy it from them, that is not a gift, it is a straw purchase.

You can not carry this weapon. You may use in in a shooting sport, and you may transport it to and from that event, or to and from a shooting range. Being under 21 I would advise transporting the weapon unloaded in the trunk to and from to avoid hassle by law enforcement.

This is wrong. At 18 you may carry your gun loaded in your vehicle however you please.

Guys all I have to say is gacarry.org

these guys not only have all the laws listed but if you have any questions on the law you can email them and they'll get right back to you. Most of the legislation that is introduced supporting 2nd amendment rights and the right to carry in GA is spearheaded by this crew. If you're going to give $$$ to anybody give it to these guys first if you support the right to carry.
