Item Description: Up for sale is this 1972/73 PRE SAFETY MARLIN JM 1894 lever action carbine chambered in 44 Mag.
I acquired this in trade from another ODT member not long ago.
I have since discovered that it will jam when trying to cycle cartridges from magazine to chamber.
I Should have checked for this before trading but still a good rifle, one I wanted.
It may be the carrier, I really don't know.
So rather than deal with this, I'm selling or trading.
The rifle is in 90 to 95% condition.
Lever and bolt cycle smoothly.
It was manufactured in North Haven, Conn.
20'' Micro-groove barrel in 44 Mag.
37'' total length.
Manufactured long before safety's were thought of...
Stock and fore end are walnut, I think, and have been re-varnished.
Lower stock near butt plate has been notched four times, presumably for the deer the original owner killed with it.
If you're handy at these things you could probably repair quickly and have it feeding cartridges consistently and reliably.
A hard to find Classic rifle and
worthy of any collection.
I've reduced the price so very affordable for this model.
Thank you for looking.
If interested, please PM.
