Trench shotguns have 20 inch barrels, heat shields and bayonet lugs. I don't think they made any in 16 gauge, but I might be wrong. The take down means the shotgun can be broken down into 2 pieces.
They did.. I looked it up on the internet. They actually had 3 different sized barrels. The 12 gauge hade a 30 inch barrel

What you are selling is a standard Winchester Model 1897 16 gauge take down shotgun and your price is reasonable for it. If it were a "trench 1897" it would be worth 8 or 10 times what you're asking. You can use the serial number to find the year manufactured. Good luck with selling it.

Have to change an error. Another trader enlightened me to the fact that the 1897 Winchester I have listed is a standard model 1897, not a trench. I apologize to everyone for the error.

Thanks again for enlightening me.. I feel like an idiot. Should have researched more.. just did.. trenches have heat shields, bayonet lugs and swivels.. Damn..
