Item Name: M1 Garand 30.06 from CMP
Location: Woodstock
Item is for: Sale Only
Sale Price: $1050
Caliber: 30.06
Willing to Ship: No
Bill of Sale Required?: No
Item Description: I am selling my M1 Garand. This baby is fresh from the CMP. (If you don't know what the CMP is, go here: http://www.odcmp.com/sales.htm)
What this means to you is that the rifle is certified original, accurately graded, highly desirable and will preserve it's value. No, it's not a WWII "bring-back" or an all-original, numbers-matching collector's piece, but it's also not $5,000.
I drove to Anniston about 2-3 months ago to hand-pick my new Garand. Leon, the resident expert on all things CMP, spent a lot of time helping me decide which rifle to purchase. In fact, I couldn't decide between 2 excellent examples, so I bought them BOTH !!!! I was hoping to sell the 2nd one to my brother, but apparently his wife wanted new storm windows instead (they live in hurricane alley in the Florida panhandle).
Anyway......so I have an extra Garand for sale. I've never fired it and it's in the same condition that it left the CMP 2-3 months ago. It has all of the original paper work, COA, CMP hard-case, 1 en-bloc clip, and a target.
As the tag says, this is the HRA Service Grade Special (RM1HRASSP). The description is here: http://www.odcmp.com/Sales/m1garand.htm.
"M1 Garand, Service Grade HRA (Harrington & Richardson) Special.
Allow 30-60 days for delivery. HRA collector grade metal in excellent almost new condition. Walnut stocks and handguards and associated hardware are new manufacture. NOT original HRA manufacture."
According to Leon, this particular model is more desirable and collectible than the "CMP Special" (RM1SPECIAL) that sells for $995 because the barrel is original and not a replacement. The replacement barrel costs them more, so they sell it for a higher price. But Leon advised me to buy the HRA Special instead because all of the metal is original.
Admittedly.....you can order a Garand from the CMP, sight-unseen, and receive it delivered to your door in about 60 days.....if you're lucky. But, according to the CMP, they have around 12,000 outstanding orders to fill. They have already run out of M1 Carbines and Springfield 1903 rifles, never to receive anymore. M1 Garands will be all but unobtainable from the CMP in the very near future.
So, save yourself a day's journey and hours of shopping time. Buy my hand-picked, post Korean-war vintage M1 Garand for $75 over my actual cost....which just about pays for my gas. If you want a genuine CMP Garand replacement sling, it's yours for an additional $10.
The serial # on the receiver is 5,6XX,XXX, which places the manufacture date between 1954 â 1956.
I also bought 1000 rounds of 30.06 ammo at the same time. Each 100 rounds comes in loose bulk, packaged in a metal ammo case, most of which are well-worn. I'll sell up to 400 rounds for what I paid, which I think was $98 (plus tax) per can.....(I'll check the receipt tomorrow.) Ammo is non-corrosive.
Drop me a PM if you're interested. All prices are firm. No Trades.
