Garand's don't have matching numbers. They have parts that are "correct" for the serial number of the receiver. The only serialized part of an M1 is the receiver. None of the other parts have the serial number. The other parts have drawing numbers. Too authenticate an M1 as 100% original or as you say "numbers matching" takes a good resource book by Scott Duff.
