Item Description: An excellent example of a Marlin 444. No cross bolt safety. Manufactured 1982. Bluing is near perfect. Has a SMALL rub spot on barrel right side. ( see photo) Not rust or scratches. Beautiful figure in the wood. No cracks,gouges or scrapes. Bore is perfect. A better cartridge and more powerful than the 45/70. Fires and functions like new. Thank you for looking. A modern 45/70 shoots a 300 grain bullet 350+ FPS faster than a 444 Marlin which is about the top weight for the 444 and the 45/70 shoots up to a 500 grain bullet per Hodgdon reloading manual.
