Good man for finding this, I was baffled by the Mini's not being 5.56 capable(according to some anyway). As far as i knew Ruger uses Hammer Forged steel, And i was hard for me to imagine them not equipping these to handle the Nato round. Thanks again, Very nice Mini specimen!! Always loved the stainless on them.I researched the inter web about this. The Ruger factory made the .223 caliber and the 5.56 round synonymous. Notice that the stamp doesn’t say .223 Rem. The .223 indicates only the brass diameter. So, according to Ruger,5.56/.223 are the same round (except for the target model.) The “over-pressure” issue that many try to assign to Mini-14’s just is not accurate.
