How would one prove this gun started life as a pistol grip only gun?

Best thing is to keep the original box with the serial number and model type. That way they could see that it came as a pistol grip only and never had a stock on it. I sold mine because I always had to explain to everyone that it was legal, and I don't like talking that much.

Pretty sure Mossberg never produced a Maverick from the factory with a pistol grip only. They do/did make a model 500 with the pistol grip from factory. If this is truly a Maverick and not a 500 then .......
