Item Description: Up for sale is a Spanish Mauser (Oviedo 1916). It is in good shape cosmetically and the stock is gorgeous. The bad is that Bubba decided to (seemingly) drill and tap the receiver with a hand drill and egged out all the holes. One hole however was drilled far too deep and went into the chamber of the firearm. It still functions, but I would hesitate to shoot it. FIRE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Lots of good parts on it though and it would make an excellent wall-hanger.

Sounds like a good candidate for rebarreling for a custom build. Weld the holes up and start over.

It depends on how big the hole is in the chamber. You could try tapping it and putting in a set screw with Loctite

Any idea whether the wood fits a Spanish 8mm or not?

Seems awfully similar to what I did to my spanish mauser, besides I drilled the side for a peep sight. However I used a drill press. Still not recommended.
