5.56 is a nato round which produces higher pressures, which in return you can shoot .223 out of a rifle chambered in 5.56. Your not suppose to shoot 5.56 out of a rifle that is chambered for .223

The difference is in the neck size angle, there different.
Not to get into someone's ad but the external dimensions of the two cartridges are basically identical. The main difference is in the length of the throat or "jump" to the lands in the chamber which accounts for different pressure ratings. As I said, a good strong bolt action will hold up fine to either cartridge.

I personally think it`s a blunder for Ruger to cause this confusion, 5.56`s are a little more expensive also, I really want a Win. 243, i`m set up with reload stuff for it, been out of shooting for awhile, looking for direction for the cheapest loads to shoot and 223 fits that scenario.
If we are talking about deer hunting, I would take a .243 over a .223 any day.

Yotes, will reach out farther than 223 but damn they are smart. I get most with my Bow while deer hunting, there breeding season starts late Dec. to Feb. seeking female and most vulnerable then.
I always think I'm going to see Yotes during deer season but I never do. Hear but not see.
